“I am inspired by my environment – the play of light on shapes, the sunshine defining forms and values. I use acrylics in an impressionistic style on watercolor paper or canvas. I try to capture the moment in color.”

Virginia R. Eggert paints with acrylics on watercolor paper or canvas, using bright colors and glazes to interpret her environment. Her paintings include impressionistic landscapes and seascapes with boats, buildings, birds, palm trees and people. She has painted in North Dakota, Montana, Alaska, Wyoming, Arizona, the Florida Keys and South Texas.

Virginia R. Eggert earned degrees in visual art from the University of Montana in Missoula and the University of Arizona in Tucson. She took watercolor classes at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. She studied watercolor painting with Zoltan Szabo, internationally known artist, teacher and author as well as Gerald Bishop, professor emeritus and illustrator at the University of Arizona. Her paintings have won awards and have been accepted in nationally known juried shows.

Virginia R. Eggert’s paintings and drawings are in private, publics and corporate collections around the world. Today, she lives in Port Isabel, Texas where she participates in art shows and organizations. She is active in the Laguna Madre Art League. She does portraits of people, houses and boats on commission.
