Barbara Robinson’s
Love for the impressionists has had a distinct influence on her style of painting. Color contrast and movement are combined to involve the viewer. She uses a direct painting approach using broken color to convey qualities of light and atmosphere. The objective is a loose “flat depth” process within a representational framework.
Barb uses original photos or life drawings to create something new, often bringing in a mood of romanticism or fantasy. “Figurative work has always interested me. I guess I am still amazed when lines and brush strokes come together and a person appears.”
Growing up in the Midwest and in Texas her Mother has encouraged her to have an interest in all kinds of people and cultures.
“Hopefully I have brought that feeling into my work”.
Barb is a graduate of the University of Iowa. She now lives on the gulf coast with her husband Bart.
